Oh wow, I've been living away from the U.S. for a couple of years - I didn't know they had lifted the ban! I agree, there's nothing like Indian mangoes. When I came back to the U.S. from living in Bangladesh, I was so disappointed in the Central American mangoes that I had previously (blindly!) thought were delicious. A whole new world is opening up to Americans now! haha.

Grace's Market, eh? Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've never come across these since the ban was lifted, not even in the Indian grocers I frequent. The Tommy Atkins variety is awful. Sometimes I can find Kent, Haden and Keitt, but I'm dying to try Alphonso.

Indian mangoes...hmm... not sure if they are of the same variety that roll on our streets during summer. Why, your mangoes must be the mangoes of kings! :)

3rd Avenue? That means I would have to go to the East side, Zen. And there is lots of big hair there. It frightens me, man.

Seductive green deliciosity! I didn't even know about such a thing, but on your recommendation I'll have a look round. I'm guessing the cashier at Gristede's is going to look very confused when I ask for this. Where in Gotham can such delictables be found?

Goodness. I'm having a mango flashback. Hawaii. Mango tree in the backyard of the poor family I was doing a little nannying for. Mango martinis!
No wonder I was fired.
Hey, we get pretty excellent very small Mexican mangoes here. Just once in a while.
