The Return of the Zen-Man
I’m back! Well, i’ve been back for a few days already but i was greeted by a lot of work and no time to update the blog. In other words, i went from 85’F degree weather to a 85’F degree kitchen in just a day so the transition wasn’t too difficult – at least temperature-wise. Thank you, thank you for all your kind words and for not trashing the place in my absence. Whoever did the mopping did a hell of a good job and is hired on this blog. No pay! Anyway, i’m back in business, i’m here, i’m alive!
On the above picture is my hotel in Tortola, with central air conditioning which in the Virgin islands means no window. Isn’t it charming? No, not reaally! This is a Bomba shack on the beach, the inscriptions on it make me believe Bomba must be some kind of respected spiritual figure [ex: give your panties to Bomba and be blessed]. I can’t testify though, these parties only occur on full moons and i only got up to a 1/4 moon while i was there and Bomba was still in hiding. Did i miss out on something? Can someone shed some light on my ignorance regarding Bomba shacks? Geez, i feel so out of the loop, i even discovered my first white hair recently. Yea, you heard me right! The sneaky little sh*t was hiding in there – on my head! But that’s another story. There’s mushroom tea on the menu if you look close enough (or click on the picture)… er.. i think i get the idea of a full moon party. Very popular in the Caribbeans.
Anyway the trip was good. Lots of food, rum and Cuban cigars. I did a terrible job at photographing the food though. By the time i remembered the plate was already empty. Sorry! And there was lots of water and boats and yaddi yaddi yadda and none of them sank while i was on it which is a good thing.
I will resume my regular posting schedule as soon as my left ear will stop peeling (got a sunburned left ear for chrissake!). I have some recipes to post and i will giveaway something yummy early next week. Stay tuned and enjoy this view of a Carribean evening. Glad to be back!
